Pan-London 2

Strategic context of Pan-London 2.

Strategic context and current provision

Strategies and documents of relevance to the Pan-London 2 programme are available on the Resources page, including the London Objective 3 Regional Development Plan, the 2005/06 London Skills Commission Prospectus/Action Plan and the Mayor’s Economic Development Strategy.

Projects should complement existing activities funded under the LSC Pan London ESF Programmes 1 & 2. Please see a list of projects under Pan London 1 and a list of preferred suppliers under Pan London 2 as well as for the On Your Marks page. Full project descriptions for Pan London 2 projects are forthcoming on this website but can already be found on the GOL ESF database.

Potential applicants can also consult the LSC Pan London ESF Programme 2 Provider Manual which provides information about the requirements for projects funded through the Programme.

Co-ordinating projects with current activity

It will be important for sector-based projects to involve the Skills for Business Network, and specifically the relevant Sector Skills Council (SSC). SSCs are independent, UK-wide organisations developed by groups of influential employers in industry or business sectors of economic and strategic significance. Details of licensed SSCs are listed on the Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA) Web site. In the absence of a specific SSC, projects should consult with other employer bodies and the SSDA. Further information about sectoral developments is available through the May 2005 Pan-London 1 Programme research report on the Interrelationship with Regional and Sectoral Skills Agenda.

Some of the projects supported by this Programme may also have a focus on particular geographical areas and they need to ensure that their activities complement the work of area-based programmes and partnerships. In particular projects should pay attention to Local Area Agreements (LAAs), which form part of the Government’s 10-year strategy for local government. Find more information about LAAs and consult the Pan-London 2 Prospectus.
